Yes, today is Jovan’s (or as I call her, Jovanie’s) birthday !!!!
Jovan has been with our family for several years now, a good friend of Stormie’s (our daughter) even before a year ago September she “officially” became a Rhoades by marrying Rocky, our son. I don’t like the term “daughter/son-in-law” I like to think of them as my own children that are just daughter/son’s by marriage. I don’t go for the whole “in-law” thing, it has a bad vibe to it.
So Jovan is my daughter.
She is bubbly, loving, always smiling, sold out to the Lord, loyal, faithful and totally in love with my son.
When I talked to Rocky after he told me that he was going to ask Jovan to marry him, I said: “Rocky, she loves and adores you and you can know that she is loyal and faithful to you.”
I knew this by the Spirit of God. A father knows.
Jovan walked down the aisle with Rocky in September of 2006 in a gala at Northern Hills Christian Church where Rocky is Worship Pastor and Jovan teaches Sunday School.
The other Sunday I dropped Gavin (the eldest grandson at 4) off to his class to help Steph out; Tristan was already at church getting ready to play drums; and Gavin’s classroom was flooded due to our recent downpour. So they directed me to another classroom and who should open the door to welcome him but Aunt Jovan. Gavin loves “Jo-maun”.
Jovan always has a smile and a hug for us when they are over or we see them out and about; and she is passionately in love with Jesus and my son, in that order. And that’s the focus that makes a good wife.
She is also the soon-to-be mother of our 5th grandchild (a little girl if the docs are right) in Feb 2008.
I love you Jovanie, thank you for loving my son. Be blessed on your birthday! I bless your coming in and your going out and the fruit of your womb and I pray for you and Rocky everyday.
love
